Enneagram Gift Guide: Find the Best Present for Each Type
As an Enneagram 3w2, I love making a sport of gift-giving! It’s so fun to figure out what people love and surprise them with it. That said, finding good gifts is hard.
I started thinking: could Enneagram types actually help generate gift ideas? And thus, this guide was born.
Looking for the perfect gift for a specific Enneagram type? This guide shares thoughtful, personality-based ideas for all 9 types, from practical picks for 1s to creative experiences for 9s. Use it as a fun, insightful way to shop this season.
I always have to caveat my Enneagram posts — I know the Enneagram is not exactly scientific, and it can be used as a crutch or excuse for unhealthy behavior. But I find it helpful because it groups people into categories based on their fears and desires. Understanding this about people is extremely helpful, even if you aren’t a fan of the Enneagram itself.
Another disclaimer: many of these recommendations are based on Enneagram stereotypes, but personalities can vary widely within the types. Although not all of these may be entirely true, you may come across one or more stereotypes that do remind you of someone you know.
So don’t take the Enneagram gift guide too seriously, but consider it a fun way to try to come up with gift ideas. Instead of asking your loved ones what they want this year, just ask them their Enneagram type (if you don’t already know it).
Let’s get into it! For each type, I’ll share a quick personality summary and then dive into gift ideas.

Type 1: The Reformer
The Reformer’s basic desire is to be good, and their basic fear is being bad or evil.
Enneagram 1 Characteristics
1s strongly desire to be useful, and tend to think there’s a correct way to do things. They are typically highly organized and enjoy structure. In general, 1s are very on top of it and put together.
Enneagram 1 Gift Guide
1s are the gift givers who do their research and shop in advance. The best thing you can do is reciprocate!
Even if you’re not usually an organized Christmas shopper, being a little bit more prepared will help you think like a 1 and find some great gifts for them.
Here are a few gift ideas for 1s:

Organizer/Planner
Since 1s love to-do lists and schedules, consider getting them a cool planner or organizer for 2025! This might take a little bit of research, because planner styles can be a personal choice. Odds are, they already have a few — see if you can figure out what type they gravitate toward.
I love this Kate Spade planner because it’s just a simple notebook with dates that you can circle — that way, if you miss a day (or many), you don’t have to feel bad about it or waste any paper! It comes in a variety of colors and designs and has a lot of space for me to write down all my tasks and to-dos in the way that I want to.
You can also get a more structured planner like this beautiful one from Rifle Paper Company, or a more gender-neutral option like this one by PAPERAGE.
Roomba/Robot Vacuum
1s tend to be neatniks, and a robot vacuum is a great time-saving device! We have the i3+ model and absolutely love it! You can purchase it on Amazon.
Jewelry or Bedside Table Organizer
For ladies, a new jewelry organizer is both a fun and practical gift. My husband got me this one a couple of years ago, and I love it!
For men, try this bedside table organizer.
Charging Station
If your 1 gets annoyed by cords (understandably), consider a charging station or a wireless phone charger.
Cozy Blanket
1s are often burdened by the weight of the world. Although they’re extremely hard-working and sacrificial, they don’t always know how to slow down and relax. Get them a cozy blanket and encourage them to curl up and take some time for themselves!
I got this oversized blanket on Amazon a few months ago, and it quickly became my favorite — I feel like no blanket is ever big enough to be cozy enough, but this one actually is!
It has a sherpa lining, so it’s really cuddly, but I also really like the look of the cable knit fabric on the reverse side. It comes in a variety of colors. Bonus: our kitty loves it too.
Type 2: The Helper
The Helper’s basic desire is to be loved, while their basic fear is being unworthy of love.
Enneagram 2 Characteristics
2s are very in touch with what other people are feeling, and are extremely thoughtful. They find joy in serving others and love feeling appreciated for their contributions.
Enneagram 2 Gift Guide
Since 2s love pouring into others, they’re usually exceptional gift givers. This can be intimidating! To find the ideal gift for your 2, show them that you know who they are. Listen to the things they talk about: their passions, interests, and guilty pleasures.
2s tend to neglect their own needs because they’re taking care of others, and can be reluctant to spend money on themselves. If you’re ever shopping with one, take note if they almost buy something and decide against it.
If they had a good reason for not getting it, take note of that. But if the reason was that it was too expensive or they didn’t want to spend money, buying it later is a great way to surprise them and show them you were paying attention.
Here are a few gift ideas.
Appreciation Notes/Book
Since 2s’ basic desire is to be loved, let them know that you do! Just purchase something like the What I Love About You book on Amazon and fill it in — super easy!
A 1:1 Date
Take them to lunch or dinner, or on a shopping trip! Show them how much you appreciate all they do for you.
Cookbooks
Since 2s are often known for their hospitality, focusing on gifts in this category can be a good strategy. Cookbooks are great gifts! A few of my favorites:
- Half Baked Harvest Cookbook by Tieghan Gerard
- You probably saw Tieghan take the cooking world by storm over the last few years. I love her recipes! She has several cookbooks, and this is her first. It has one of my favorite recipes in it.
- Bubbly: A Collection of Champagne and Sparkling Cocktails by Colleen Jeffers
- A compilation of sparkling cocktail recipes, this is such a fun and festive gift!
- Skinnytaste One and Done by Gina Homolka
- These quick and healthy recipes are handy to have on hand for the weeknights when you want to make something easy.

Le Creuset Mini Cocottes
Many people already have the classic Le Creuset Dutch oven. But do they have the mini version?
You can purchase a set of mini cocottes, which are excellent for serving individual desserts such as crème brûlée, soufflés, or mousse. On the savory side, you can also use them for individual pot pies or soup!
My mom got these for me last year, and I’m obsessed with them. They’re an awesome gift for people who love to host. Bonus points if you can match the color of their existing Le Creuset!

A Favorite Things Basket
Get them a basket filled with all their favorite things. This could be snacks, beauty products, something related to their hobbies, anything! They’ll love the gift, but they’ll love that you noticed what they care about even more.
Type 3: The Achiever
The Achiever’s basic desire is to be valuable, and their basic fear is being worthless.
Enneagram 3 Characteristics
As mentioned earlier, this is my type! 3s are always on the go, getting stuff done, and tend to be workaholics. Although they often find meaning in their work, they also tend to have hobbies or side hustles that they channel a lot of energy into.
Enneagram 3 Gift Guide
3s wrestle with finding their identity in their performance. See if you can find ways to encourage them and affirm their achievements, while also letting them know that you love them for who they are and not for what they do.
YETI Insulated Coffee Tumbler
3s are often running on coffee. As a 3, I confess that my coffee often gets cold before I can finish drinking it since I’m busy doing other things!
I have both the 20-oz YETI Rambler (mine is the Philz version) and the 10-oz size. They’re great because they are so insulated, so sometimes I take them to go, but I also just use them around my house to keep my coffee warm. They come in a variety of colors.
Even if your 3 already has a to-go coffee mug or a YETI, they might be able to use another one!
World’s Largest Coffee Mug
If the YETI isn’t big enough, try getting them the world’s largest coffee mug!
Words of Encouragement
For 3s, words of encouragement are some of the best gifts! Here are some creative ideas to express that.
Appreciation Notes/Book
Like 2s, 3s want to be recognized — but they often see this through the lens of their achievements. They would also love being affirmed with something like the What I Love About You book.
Although it’s great to recognize their accomplishments, it’s important to let them know that you would love them even if they didn’t achieve anything.
Vitamin Me Love Letters
If you’re looking for something for a significant other or close family member, consider these Vitamin Me Love Letters. My husband got this for me, and it’s one of my favorite gifts I’ve ever received!
Whenever I’m having a bad day, I read one and am encouraged by it. It does take some effort to write and roll up the little slips of paper to fit inside the capsules, but it’s such a meaningful gift.
Downlights/Table Lamps
Like 2s, 3s are also often gifted in hospitality. For your 3, think about getting them downlights or table lamps! My mom got them for me as a gift, and I use them all the time.
In my post about lighting, I talked about how much ambience these add to my home. They’re rechargeable via USB-C and come in a variety of colors/finishes. They’re great for anyone who loves to host. You can purchase them here.
Organizer/Planner
Like 1s, 3s are also often into planners! Remember to figure out what kind they like before buying one.
Type 4: The Individualist
The Individualist’s basic desire is to find their significance, and their basic fear is being insignificant.
Enneagram 4 Characteristics
4s seek to find meaning by differentiating themselves from others. Being unique and standing out is really important to them. Individualists tend to be highly creative, lovers of art and music.
Enneagram 4 Gift Guide
In general, customized gifts are always meaningful, but especially for 4s, finding something really unique that speaks to their personality will be highly impactful. Not everyone is into having their initials or name on things, but if they don’t like that, you can customize gifts in other ways.
Here are a few gift ideas for 4s.
Custom Embroidered Apparel
Consider getting your 4 some apparel with their initials or a special design. This could be a t-shirt, sweatshirt, hat, or something else — the possibilities are endless.
Last year, I got my husband a shirt with his side business’s logo on it. The listing is no longer available, but here’s another similar option on Etsy!
Art/Creative Projects
- For the artsy 4s, consider a watercolor set or sketch pad.
- If they’re interested in calligraphy, a calligraphy pen set would be a fun gift.
- For candle lovers, you could get a candle-making kit.
- Are they interested in photography, music, pottery, woodworking, or something else? Give them the gift of a class!
Custom Fragrance
If your 4 wants a perfume or cologne that is 100% unique, Olfactory NYC allows you to create your own custom fragrance! Although it’s located on the East Coast, they also offer an at-home customization experience.
Concert Tickets
Do you know your 4’s favorite band/artist? Consider getting them a ticket to a concert — even better, go with them!
Swag from Their Favorite Band
Along those lines, getting them swag from their favorite band is also a great gift. Just try to find something as unique as possible.
Personalized/Boutique Jewelry
For 4s that do like their initials on things, I wear this monogram necklace all the time. One of my favorite Etsy sellers, Caitlyn Minimalist, also has a great selection of jewelry — some is personalized and some isn’t.
If your 4 doesn’t like gifts with their name or initials, you can also get jewelry with their birthstone or birth flower. The key is to find something unique!
Type 5: The Investigator
The Investigator’s basic desire is to be capable, and their basic fear is being useless.
Enneagram 5 Characteristics
5s are highly analytical and are intrigued by understanding how the world works. Since they tend to be pretty practical, they can be hard to find gifts for.
Enneagram 5 Gift Guide
Some tips when shopping for 5s: learn more about their hobbies and help them dive deep into their interests. Also, their practical nature means they truly love practical gifts, so take advantage of that. 5s might love a gift that isn’t “fun” for most people.
Information about Their Hobbies
5s love to learn, and they can always go deeper. While other people might enjoy being able to do more with their hobbies, 5s also love getting more information.
For example, if they’re into grilling, get them a grill cookbook! I got this one for my brother a couple of years ago.
A Class or Lessons
Since they’re both practical and love to learn, experiential gifts are a win for 5s. Give them a class or lesson for cooking, fishing, golfing, photography, or whatever they’re interested in!
Duolingo Subscription
Is your 5 interested in learning another language (or several) but doesn’t want to pay the Duolingo price tag? Give them a year-long subscription!
Socks
The quintessential practical gift, everyone always needs more socks — and a lot of 5s love getting them as gifts.
Coffee or Tea Subscription
Atlas Coffee Club has an awesome subscription that you can gift. If your 5 isn’t a coffee drinker, you can also gift a tea subscription from Crate Joy.
Specialty Coffee
Have you heard of the infamous cat poop coffee? It may sound gross, but it’s excellent quality and makes a great gift for a curious type 5 coffee lover.
Type 6: The Loyalist
The Loyalist’s basic desire is to have support, and their basic fear is being without security.
Enneagram 6 Characteristics
Although 6s are often characterized by anxiety, this characteristic does not define them.
Like 1s, 6s are highly organized and tend to be planners. Think of them as the “parent” of the friend group. They are gifted at taking care of people and seek to be taken care of in return.
As their name suggests, 6s are intensely loyal — not only to people but to systems and structure. This includes traditions! 6s are naturally gifted at preserving traditions and passing them down.
Enneagram 6 Gift Guide
Do you know your 6’s favorite tradition? You can capitalize on that as part of your gift. Or maybe, suggest starting a special new tradition with just the two of you.
Here are a few other ideas.
Water Bottle
While most of us are likely a bit dehydrated, 6s are likely the most stressed about it. Help them hydrate with this giant motivational water bottle! I used to have a similar one, which is now out of stock.
For something less garish (but also less entertaining), you could get them a more aesthetic bottle, such as a Hydro Flask or a Stanley. My Hydro Flask has a straw lid, which is a game-changer for hydration.

Planned Day Trip
6s are used to doing all the planning — give them a break and gift them the gift of a fully planned day trip filled with things they enjoy (with the itinerary shared in advance, of course).
Puzzle
Puzzles can be a pretty therapeutic activity and make excellent gifts. Disclaimer: You’re either a puzzle person or you’re not, so make sure they’re into puzzles!
Comfy
Have you heard of the COMFY yet? My husband got me one in the first year we were dating. It’s the ultimate cozy gift, especially for people who need to take more time to relax! And it comes in a wide variety of colors.
Book about Dealing with Stress
Is your 6 a reader? Try giving them one of these five books about dealing with stress, recommended by the New York Times. Just tread carefully and make sure that they know you’re coming from a place of love and not shame — 6s don’t want to be defined by their anxiety.
- Chatter: The Voice in Our Head, Why It Matters, and How to Harness It
- Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life
- Rest Is Resistance: A Manifesto
- The Relaxation and Stress Reduction Workbook
- Unwinding Anxiety: New Science Shows How to Break the Cycles of Worry and Fear to Heal Your Mind
Heart of the Home Cookbook
6s also tend to be great hosts, and Susan Branch’s cookbooks are some of my favorites. They’re so charming and are filled with lots of tidbits, unique recipes, and watercolor drawings. The 30th Anniversary Heart of the Home, Notes from a Vineyard Kitchen is a great gift for a 6!
Type 7: The Enthusiast
The Enthusiast’s basic desire is to be satisfied, and their basic fear is of being deprived and in pain.
Enneagram 7 Characteristics
7s are lovers of adventure. They are spontaneous and fun, the life of the party! They tend to like surprises more than some of the other types.
Enneagram 7 Gift Guide
Since 7s place such a high value on fun experiences, I recommend focusing more on experiential gifts for this type — and on doing those experiences together.
Some ideas could include:
- Concert Tickets
- White Water Rafting
- Hot Air Balloon Ride
- Spa Day
- Wine Tasting
- Musical Tickets
- Sky Diving (for the truly adventurous)
Here are a few other gift ideas.
Pet Backpack
Does your 7 have a cat or small dog? This bubble backpack is maybe an unnecessary way to transport your pet, but it’s pretty fun. Our kitty loves his.
You know what’s a REALLY fun gift if your 7 loves pets but doesn’t have one? No pressure…but you would win the gift game.
Laneige Lip Mask
7s are often excited by new fads and trends. This lip mask is popular for a reason — it’s amazingly moisturizing!

Tabletop Indoor S’mores Kit
Although this is not the most practical gift, isn’t that kind of the point? Get this kit for a 7 that loves s’mores and slightly ridiculous things.
Type 8: The Challenger
The Challenger’s basic desire is to protect themselves, and their basic fear is being harmed or controlled by others.
Enneagram 8 Characteristics
Like 3s, 8s are always on the go. They are highly achievement-oriented and tend to be workaholics, always seeking to improve themselves. Skilled at advocating for others, 8s can benefit from taking time to care for themselves.
Enneagram 8 Gift Guide
The best gifts for 8s include things that can help them pursue their passions but also encourage them to take time to relax.
Kindle
If your 8 loves to read, consider getting them a Kindle or a Kindle Paperwhite.
Kindle Unlimited Subscription
If they already have a Kindle, you can give them a Kindle Unlimited subscription! It doesn’t allow access to Kindle’s entire library, but the selection is decent, and they add more titles all the time.
AirPods
AirPods are ideal for someone who’s always on the go. If your 8 doesn’t have any or needs new ones, this is a great gift! If the Apple version is out of budget or your 8 has an Android, Anker also has a more affordable option.
Automatic Massager
8s tend to be pretty tense, and could use a way to decompress without slowing down too much. Give them an automatic massager to help them unwind.
iPad Magic Keyboard Folio
Does your 8 have a new iPad but not the keyboard folio? I got this for my birthday, and I like it even more than I thought I would. It helps me be productive on the move without needing to bring my laptop everywhere.
If the Apple keyboard is out of your budget, there are also mid-range and lower-range options available.

Workout Clothes
8s are often pretty active, and could maybe benefit from some new workout clothing. These are some of my favorite workout clothing brands:
Type 9: The Peacemaker
The Peacemaker’s basic desire is to have inner peace, and their basic fear is of loss and separation.
Enneagram 9 Characteristics
Peacemakers are happiest when they’re in harmony with themselves, others, and the world. Because they’re always seeking to preserve the peace, they sometimes struggle to advocate for their own needs.
Enneagram 9 Gift Guide
My husband is a 9, and in my opinion, they’re the hardest to shop for — probably because they’re usually focused on making other people happy. One of the best gifts you can give a 9 is to truly listen to them and try to figure out what they want.
A few other ideas:
Dinner and/or Movie Date
Peacemakers usually defer to everyone else on where to eat or what movie to watch. Take them out to dinner and/or a movie where they get to choose!
A Massage
Help your 9 relax by treating them to a massage!
Electric Candle Lighter
Candles help you feel a little more at peace with the world, and this nifty electric candle lighter is super handy!
Consumable Gifts
Give them some specialty chocolate, and/or a few of their favorite snacks! They would also probably appreciate a coffee or tea subscription.
Journal
Encourage your 9 to think about their own needs by giving them a journal to process their thoughts and desires. This one is genuine leather and would be a great gift for men or women.
Masterclass Subscription
Help your 9 pursue something they’re interested in by giving them a Masterclass subscription!
A Yoga Class
Yoga can help reduce stress and help people feel more at peace. Treat your 9 to a class!
And that concludes the Enneagram gift guide!
As mentioned, many of these are based on stereotypes and will vary considerably based on personality.
You may see gifts under one type that you know would work well for someone you know who is another type. And that’s great! This is just supposed to help give you a few gift ideas for the people you love.
