Trader Joe's Pumpkin Brioche French Toast

Prep Time5 minutes
Cook Time20 minutes
Course: Breakfast
Servings: 4

Equipment

  • 1 griddle
  • butter or cooking spray

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Trader Joe's Pumpkin Brioche Twist bread
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 cups milk (I used 2%)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 splash heavy whipping cream or half and half (optional, for richness)
  • Trader Joe's Maple Butter (for serving)

Instructions

  • Heat a large frying pan or griddle over medium-high heat. Grease lightly with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, salt, and a splash of heavy cream or half-and-half.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the mixture for 2–10 seconds, depending on desired softness.
  • Let any excess drip off, then place the bread on the hot griddle.
  • Cook until golden brown on both sides and heated through, adjusting the time depending on whether you like a softer, custardy center or a firmer texture.
  • Serve warm, topped with maple butter.

Notes

One loaf of Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Brioche Twist has about 9 slices, which serves around 4 people. The custard mixture usually makes enough for a second loaf, too. If you need more, just add 1–2 extra eggs and 1–2 cups of milk.
