My name is Haley Holmlund – I’m a 23-year-old creative professional… who sometimes feels unprofessional. While working life is incredible, sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one who feels like nothing can really prepare you for life in your 20s??
It’s as if you walk across that stage, grab that diploma, and poof! Suddenly, staying up till 3 am watching The Office and eating cookie dough somehow turns into working through lunch every day, eating salad that tastes like sadness, and crashing by 9:30 pm.
A little bit about me: I run communications for a virtual nonprofit organization. I’m primarily a writer and content strategist, but I also dabble in graphic design. I adore my job! Some other things I adore: Jesus, my cat, the ocean, middle schoolers, good books, exploring cool cities, and taking a solid 2-hour nap. Some things I don’t adore: Decaf coffee, cold weather, poor grammar, people who fail to accelerate on freeway on-ramps, Comic Sans, and negativity.
Being a creative, especially since I work remotely, comes with its challenges. First, there’s the challenge of trying to do my job well – coming up with new ideas and successfully implementing them. Then, there’s performing the massive balancing act of trying to juggle work, life, and faith – and just trying to have a little fun!
By no means do I have this figured out. But, I thought – if there are other 20-somethings out there who have had similar struggles – why not try to figure it out together? On this blog, I’ll be writing about a pretty wide range of topics on life as a creative professional – everything from career and productivity tips to coffee, travel, and more!
I hope you’ll find something here entertaining/interesting/helpful at least once every 75 years.
